High density tungsten alloy as shielding
Product Overview:
Application of high density tungsten alloy as shielding:
The use of high density tungsten alloy as shielding in the medical industry is to accurately target radiation to diseased tissues. It is necessary to use tungsten collimator blades, CT X-ray medical equipment, tungsten heavy alloy parts or Tunsten CT components.
Industrial radiography is a method of non-destructive testing that uses ionizing radiation to examine materials and components, in order to locate and quantify defects and degradation in materials that may cause failure. Industrial gamma radiography uses gamma rays generated by natural radioactivity from sealed radioactive nuclide sources. It is also possible to perform tomography scans in almost real-time. In the field of nuclear medicine, radioactive leaks may pose significant risks to human life. To ensure personnel safety, imaging applications require optimal radiation shielding. We develop advanced tungsten alloys for radiation shielding technology in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging. Due to the high density of tungsten alloys, their X-ray and gamma ray absorption efficiency is 50% higher than traditional lead.

High density tungsten alloy as shielding Details
Why choose tungsten alloy material as medical high beam shielding?
Due to the high shielding ability of tungsten alloy materials in medical tungsten alloy shielding components against various rays, a 90% attenuation thickness of only 3mm is required to block 150keV gamma rays, making them very suitable for applications that require high spatial resolution, such as medical collimators and multi page gratings.High density tungsten alloy materials have a high density (60% higher than lead), which reduces the size of radiation shielding components without affecting the radiation shielding effect. Compared to lead, tungsten alloys with the same radiation shielding performance have a volume of less than one-third of lead.
From the perspective of environmental friendliness and convenience: the use of lead as a radiation therapy shield poses greater risks, while uranium material as a shielding element for gamma rays has strong radioactivity. Due to the environmental characteristics of medical tungsten alloy shielding material, medical equipment made of tungsten alloy material is not harmful.
