Introduction to the production method of copper tungsten alloy:
There are two main production processes for copper tungsten contact alloys:
1) Powder metallurgy production method:
Mix copper powder and tungsten powder in a certain proportion to ensure uniform distribution of the two powders. Under high pressure, press the mixed powder into the desired shape of the contact body, giving it a certain density and strength. Then, sinter the pressed body at high temperature to form a strong bond between tungsten powder and copper powder, improving the density and performance of the body. For some tungsten copper contacts with low copper content, the infiltration method is usually used. First, tungsten powder is pressed into a tungsten skeleton with a certain porosity, and then copper is heated to a liquid state to penetrate into the pores of the tungsten skeleton, forming a tungsten copper composite material.
2) Copper oxide powder method: By mixing and grinding copper oxide powder with tungsten powder, followed by reduction and extraction. During the sintering process, copper forms a continuous matrix, while tungsten serves as a reinforcing framework. This method can obtain tungsten copper contacts with excellent performance.
3) Application areas of copper tungsten alloy:
With the continuous development of the power industry, the performance requirements for tungsten copper contacts are also increasing.
High voltage switchgear: In high-voltage circuit breakers, isolating switches, and other equipment, tungsten copper contacts are used to connect and disconnect high-voltage circuits. For example, in substations of 110kV and above, the contacts of high-voltage circuit breakers are usually made of tungsten copper material to withstand the arc effect under high voltage and high current, ensuring the reliable operation of the switchgear and the smooth operation of the power grid.
Welding machine and butt welding machine: In welding machines and butt welding machines, tungsten copper contacts serve as welding heads and electrodes, capable of withstanding high temperatures and high currents during the welding process, ensuring welding quality and efficiency.
